Trigger points refer pain that frequently mimics the symptoms associated with knee pain and the knee “giving way.” These trigger points are also associated with diagnoses such as degenerative joint disease or osteoarthritis.

Examples of these muscles are the Rectus femoris and the vastus medialis.
